Problems
Being out of the comfort zone is problematic. Sometimes, students have trouble adapting to new environments when they go to new schools. Because of that, schools are responsible for helping these students deal with their problems.
Firstly, students may feel uncomfortable when they go
to new schools because they are unfamiliar with the schools’ rules or educational
programs there. Schools should have orientations for new students in the first few days of their arrival to deal with that. The orientations will
tremendously be beneficial to new students in getting firsthand information
about the schools.
Secondly, schools are encouraged to offer new students
consulting services, because not all the new students quickly adapt to new
schools. Therefore, the consultants will listen and provide advice to students
who feel nervous, or even panic in the new environments. Additionally, schools may
include the parents in the consulting sessions. The best way to help the new
students fit in is to collaborate with schools and parents.
Lastly, schools should create spaces for these
newcomers to get to know their new classmates. One of the most common dilemmas, when students move to new schools, is making friends. So, schools must have camping
trips, sporting or competition events, and public services to offer new and old
students the chance to interact and get to know each other.
In summary, schools are abided by supporting new
students in fitting in the new educational environments by preparing them with
the schools’ rules and requirements, providing them with consulting services,
and offering them opportunities to know more about their classmates.
